Not happy with cage placement.
Franklin and Olive are not happy with cage placement. It is supposed to be just temporary, but feel it is going to be VERY temporary. They are upstairs in our bedroom, next to the window. They like looking out, but they will not come out and play on their play gym again. I could leave the cage door open all day and they stay inside. They came out more being downstairs around the finch flight. They would climb on it and then I would put them on the play gym. I just don't have the perfect spot downstairs. They were riot next to the finch flight " in the dining room" but I really don't want the dining room a " bird haven" lol! Grrrrrr! Very frustrating. I wish I could figure out that " perfect place"

Hey Tammie.
Sometimes what we want, goes on a back burner, to what our birds need to be happy.
My poor kitchen, has become a 'bird room'. Did I plan it that way?
Nope!
I was supposed to have my little Canary Luciano, in the kitchen to sing and cheer me up. And now, oh God!!! They've taken over!
Just give in, there's no fighting it. They will win in the end anyway.

I know......I would. I just have no room, literally, I had to squeeze by to get through the dining room into the kitchen and back again. Lol! And when you have 2 grown men also, a son 6'1, 215 pounds and a hubby 6,0, 310 pounds, they tend to rule. Lol!

I have two grown up sons, who are quite certain that I have lost my mind.
If they find seeds on their plates, I tell them, that whole grains are good for them. Feathers? Hey, extra protein. Hulls? Fiber, very healthy.
With men, you always have to be one step ahead

Re: Not happy with cage placement.
Welp!
Frankie and Olive are back in the dining room! Lol! They are in a 18x30. There is a grate at the bottom, that I wish wasn't there. Is there a way to take it off without damaging the cage? It is a breeder cage. I have the paper on top of the grate to save myself a step in cleaning of the grate because it doesn't appear to come out. To clean it I would have to shower the entire cage. but with every flap of the wings, all goes on the floor, poop, seed, hulls and I have a cage skirt. Maybe it will help to have the grate out so at least the debris in the tray. Any ideas? Or experience with this?

I cut the grates out of all my cages with wire cutters.

Re: Not happy with cage placement.
Sheather has a good idea.
I leave them in my 30x30x30 cages because it adds integrity to the cage.
I used to cover with newspapers, but they seem to do just fine with the grate, so I just let it be.
I'm glad to hear they enjoy their new spot!
Sometimes, they can feel vulnerable in a particular area, so I bet that's what happened.

Re: Not happy with cage placement.
I just thought to save myself the having to shower entire cage every cleaning it would be easier to figure out how to remove them entirely, but I can just put paper on top. No biggie.
