Post by Sam007 » Wed May 06, 2015 4:11 pm

My Scarlet Chested Parakeets Pair 2 bred first time. Male is normal green and female is olive green. Their two chicks hatched on May 01, 2015 and on May 01, 2015. Remaining two eggs are not fertile.
Here is their youtube video,

Gotta love it Sam, made me chuckle .

Are there two babies in there? It almost looks like a two headed baby

The parents, are absolutely lovely, and Daddy looks so proud and full of himself. You'd think he's the one that laid the eggs :-D.

Congratulations, and would love to see more pictures as these infants develop and grow.

They are growing Sam. =D>

It's amazing how they stick so close together. Are the parents being good?

Congrats, Sam, on the healthy babies =D>
The first video cracks me up with the way the papa hopped back & forth like he's bursting with pride, while mama calmly sat on her perch. She must be thinking "What are you so excited for. You didn't do nothing!" :D

Congratulations on the babies... Scarlet hens will remove a good deal of the bedding from the nest... I would add a bit more pine shavings to the box to give the babies some traction and support, it will help prevent splay leg. My hens go in and stay with the young until feathered. It is best not to let the young sit on the bare floor... especially if the clutch is big and mom is still sitting on/over them to keep them warm. Once the young are hatched I go in and add extra bedding under them.

All my males do the same flying back and forth (even when they have eggs) when they have young get excited and often run the bottom!! They do this especially when they see I have soft foods...they run back and forth and I can barely get the plate in the door before they are on it!!! so excited to be parents!!
