Kakarikis and red rumps

Post by Gráinne Barrett » Sat Jun 20, 2015 11:57 am

Hi everybody, I am back hopefully permanently this time as school and exams are finished. Quick question: what species are compatible with red rumps and kakarikis?

Are you thinking of putting finches in with them?

If your answer is "yes" I would not recommend putting either in with finches. Red rumps can be aggressive, especially when wanting to breed. Kakarikis are bigger, faster and would be to much for small finches.

A better choice in with finches would be bourkes or scarlets (breeding the bourkes or scarlets should be done in separate cages from finches and the other species).

I've found budgies get along with everyone from finches to doves.
