Nice Macaw! Seems legit. Rabies vaccinated?

Post by Babs _Owner » Fri Jun 02, 2017 8:26 am

Usually you can pick out a fraud add. And lots of these pop up on craigs list with large birds. I was actually enjoying what the "owner" had written about this sweet macaw.........Until I saw

"She has had a current rabies shot." :-W :-L

Babs

Maybe shoot him a line informing him, that only mammals can get rabies, and birds not being mammals cannot [-X .

I've seen two ads lately that made me laugh, one for two six-month old proven macaws breeder macaws, and another for "Singing Bulldogs".

What surprised me is how well written and worded the post is. It really drew you into the bird and feeling bad for the family having to re-home it.
Then WHAM! You realize its probably a scam.
Like reading an interesting story with a terribly written ending.

Singing Bulldogs!! #-o :))

Well, glad they felt the need to vaccinate their bird for a disease they cant vaccinate him for. Obviously something wrong in this picture buddy...

Babs

It is obviously a copypaste of real ads, seemingly three of them.
They just seem to have mixed an ad for a cat or dog into it, too.
I also wondered what a macaw would do with a water bottle.

Babs w.l.

I agree that it appears to be a mish mash of more than one ad.
Part of it does seem to be talking about a dog, more than a bird (let her 'run' around outside the cage, etc).

The water bottle is an odd one, although I have seen puppies in pet shops licking water out of water bottles, but never birds.

I wonder if it's someone who doesn't speak English, and tried to put up an ad by copying bit's and pieces of other people's ads.

Birds can totally figure out water bottles.

Small birds yes, but what kind of bottle would a macaw with its huge bill need to be able to drink from it?

My guess:

Ad #1, about a macaw:

Due to housing policy changes and other conflicts we are looking to re-home our cute blue and gold macaw
She is an energetic, well behaved, easily train able, and loving bird.
We have put in so much work with her and her training.

Ad #2, about a dog or cat:

She needs a loving home that can take her , treat her as part of the family.
She is up to date on her shots as of right now.
This also includes a full size cage, toys, treats, and food .
I want someone who has more time and space to care for her properly and let her run around outside the cage more. She would come with her cage, water bottle and food bowl and whatever food I have left for her. I want to make sure that she will have a good home and family most importantly. She is very sweet and friendly, but is very shy. She has had a current rabies shot. She would be a great addition to a family she love to play and cuddle..

Ad #3 about another macaw:

Cute,Intelligent, DNA tested blue and gold macaw looking forever homes,1 year,8months old . she love's to dance and talk. Her vocabulary is very large. Well tame easy to handle. Comes with huge cage and freestanding stainless steel stand small re-homing fees required and only serious inquiries, no time wasters.
We are looking for a good home for her for reasons not related to her. Contact us for more information ....Comes with" Cage, Toys & Ladders, Bowls, & her Paper. , Loves To Talk, Sing,. . Very tame hand reared baby ready for new home. Used to all house hold noise. She loves to climb on the ropes, rocks on the swing and play on her playground. She will sit and watch tv with the family. She balances nicely on the shoulder while one moves from room to room.

Note that ad #3 includes no water bottle, just bowls. ;-)

Separately, they are all fine ads.
Put together, an overkill. :D

Lixit makes a big parrot bottle.
Since they use their tongue to press the lever, it's not actually that enormous really.
