English Budgies vs. Standard Budgies: Health & Longevity?

Post by FinchLady » Fri Aug 10, 2018 12:39 pm

There is conflicting data online concerning differences of average life span of English Budgies vs. Standard Budgie. Some sites state Standard Budgies live longer and are significantly healthier than English Budgies. Is there really an overall difference?

There are a lot of opinions out there but nothing in the way of hard data that I have seen. A lot of people say English live one or two years less than standards but that seems very inconsistent. Some English live a very long time.
The answer is: it depends.
Depends on inbreeding; nutrition; exercise; obesity and general living conditions. Breeding is said to shorten life span but again, no hard data.

Not something I'd worry about.
