finchboiuk: Awww, congrats on the quails. I believe what you have is Coturnix japonica. Coturnix coturnix are not really popular in captivity opposed to Coturnix japonica, a.k.a Japanese Quail. One for sure way to differentiate the two species is their song.

Coturnix coturnix:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w_GmaKN2Ik (Very distinct song - sounds like yapping)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv3eK_lBbVw (Much quieter than the japonica)

Coturnix japonica:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOTPfJcrOO4 (female call)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIVPvoUdBdw (males crow - loudly)
http://youtu.be/FDOutnl9d1Y (you can hear a bunch of males crowing here -- skip interview/commentary)

And yes, you have one tuxedo and one normal/wild color. :)
