Doves & Quail?

Post by DanteD716 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 12:48 pm

Could we possibly get a dove and quial subforum? Combine both together?? I noticed alot of finch fanciers have quail and doves. Just a though. I am thinking about button quail and it might be easier for othe rmembers looking into a different species iif all were in one place

Dante, you're making more work!! Just kidding. We'll have to check in with Crystal and see if she is up for it--she is the only one that can make major changes to the forum. Pretty soon, we'll have all the birds covered--finches, canaries, hookbills, and then dove/quail. Let's keep the ducks and chickens on a poultry forum elsewhere!

LMAO!!! Seriously....we went from being a "finch forum" to now accommodating hookbills! :) I don't mind though....I'm all for change! =D>

I agree, debbie276 -- love me some lap chickens and some ducks. I used to keep both but now stick to our indoor feathered friends. I wonder if quail fall under "poultry"?

I have bobwhite quail and they are outside birds for sure. Hmmmm, matter of fact they ARE out with the chickens! Quail are considered game birds.

I think quail are considered gamebirds, not quite poultry, that is why you can keep them in the city. I like thee changes, as long a hookbills stay where they belong, canaries, etc etc and we continue our finch chat

I needed a laugh today--thanks to all of you!! I used to have ducks out on my pond in the pasture, but one by one, they fall to the coyotes. Haven't had the heart to put more out there, but I do miss watching them.

OT, but here is my last one, a Khaki Campbell, walking on the frozen pond--we don't often get cold enough to freeze over the whole pond. Wasn't he a beauty?

Sally, I know you could not rescue more horses, but llamas are great flock protectors... I have heard of people who had sheep, but did not want the hassel of a dog sothey got a llama and the llama chased off coyotes!

Just a thought.. I know they feed mostly on grass anyways
