Two diamond dove babies hatched!

Post by tinysparrow » Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:50 am

Yesterday two babies hatched! They are so tiny :) you can see them here with their mother. They are the little fluff balls in the bottom right corner of the nest. I hope they will grow to be strong and healthy. The parents are an experienced mom and a "newbie" dad.

Congrats on the babies! Is that a third egg? I love Diamond Doves, and mine were always wonderful parents. Wait till the babies start peeking out of the nest at you--so cute!

Yes Sally I think it is a third egg! I came home from school and there is the remains of an egg shell on the cage floor :) hopefully the parents will move around a bit tonight so I can see what's going on!

When I had Diamonds, they only had two babies each clutch, but when I enlarged your photo, it looked like a whole egg still in the nest. I would always find nice neat shell halves on the bottom of the cage, so I knew their eggs had hatched.

Congrats! Diamond dove babies are very strange looking, but very cute in a weird way.
