An old photo - I forgot there was a dove section on the forum.
We've had them lay a couple eggs, but nothing incubated well enough to hatch.

How stunning!

If I had the space, I would keep doves. I would love some fantails and some of the more exotic varieties. My grandmother kept doves and through this we share a love for birds.

Thanks for sharing.

These guys are pretty small and have done well living with peruvian ground and diamond doves in a 5 foot tall cage.
I would be more focused on breeding if people were interested in them. Seems hard to find anyone who is interested in them. The cape doves can become tamed and are calm and quiet. I'd recommend them to anyone who is even slightly interested.

Nice looking bird. How do they compare in size to the diamond doves? About the same or bigger? Bob

body size is about the same, but the cape doves tail is twice as long.
