Want Doves...

I've been looking into it, because I've never had doves of any kind but I've always found them to be pretty. I'm considering getting a pair. XD What goes into their care? What do they eat? What size flight cage? What species are most common? Any special considerations?

Hey Amelia! Cage size really depends on what species you want to keep. Diamond doves are probaly the most common besides ringnecks, and are preffered by finch keepers. A 30x18 is fine for diamonds, but a 30x18x36 would be better, and also work for ringnecks. They do like to be on the cage floor alot of the time, so you want to keep the floor cleaner than your average finch cage. Both species will nest in a canary bowl or a wicker basket. Good luck! I'm also thinking about getting doves.. Have been debating it for a while.
