I go back and forth on whether I'd like to try raising these but have an opportunity to obtain a pair. Does anyone have any experience with them? If I get them they will probably be housed with Diamond Doves.
Also does anyone in the area have any? It won't do me much good to have a pair if I can't find unrelated birds to pair with my bird's offspring.

Re: Cape Doves?
Hi there...
I looked up 'Cape Doves' Colt, and I can't really say that I'm all that impressed. They sort of look like, well...... like pigeons.
Why are you intetested in them? Or are you?

Thanks Steve. Those are the doves I saw when I googled, but Elana's comment about them looking like pigeons threw me. They are quite pretty by the looks of them.
Don't know them. Can't comment on their compatibility. All doves I ever kept or seen can cause mayhem in an aviary if they fight. So less is probably more. You'd have to find a few breeders you could swap young with so you can make up unrelated pairs.

Pigeons, are pretty too.....
Just not sure if I would want them as pets...
I suppose to each his own though. Please don't let me sway anyone one way or the other.

Re: Cape Doves?
Those are the ones. And I think they are pretty. Especially with their long tails. They aren't very common and I've always like the idea of making a species more readily available to those who are interested. Just can't decide if I have room for them right now or not. With those tails the 6ft flight is really a must while the Diamonds are ok in the smaller flights. I just can't decide...
