Population EXPLOSION !!!!!!!!

I started with two male Button Quail and felt sorry for my lonely boys. So after lots of searching, I finally found two females for my guys....not an easy thing to do as I found out the hard way. They immediately separated into pairs and Buttons and Shades had their first clutch...13 babies !!!! OMG....then Buckey and Speckles had five babies...and now Shades is on another nest of eggs!!! This is the TRUE meaning of population explosion! These babies are by far the cutest things I have ever seen!!! They are like a little "train going down the track" behind mom and dad, searching and pecking at everything in their path. Precious babies !!!

I have a friend that has a pet shop so hopefully she can sell a few for me. My brother is interested in a few also. After this I will be watching these guys every minute...in every corner....every day... #-o

I dont have an option to reply directly to you.

But I truly admire the lovely forest floor you have given them! Maybe why they are so prolific :)

They are TOO CUTE!!! Good thing you are far away.

16 from one clutch!? are you sure you don't have three females and a male?

Quail eggs are good for eating :)

OMG! Beyond cute!!!

I'm dying for a pair of button quail! I've been on the lookout for them for ages, but I haven't found anyone local. I wish you weren't so far as I'd definitely scoop at least a couple!

That's funny that you've got two harmonious boys! I know the boys can often be very testy with each other.

Publication 52-5-54 of the USPS details that bird eggs are mailable. They should be mailed early, as day old hatchlings are heavily regulated and I am not sure button quail qualify (ordinary quail do qualify).

The guys definitely do "bump heads" from time to time. But since they have each bonded with their female, they stay out of each others way. When I had two males only, they got along very well. But I knew I had to get each of them their own female or there would have been war! Because the females are such prolific layers, they don't live as long as the male, making them more difficult to find and little more expensive. They make bird watching in my outdoor aviary a lot more interesting! Those babies are precious!

If Jen doesn't want to sell eggs, I just checked and there are a number of Ebay vendors who do so. (One is advertising a lot of 300 eggs, maybe don't get that one, lol).
