Fruit Pigeons....

Post by lovezebs » Tue Nov 03, 2015 6:26 pm

Hello Pigeon and Dove Fans.

I have to admit, that other than a mild affection for the wild Pigeons that one sees everywhere, I have never been really interested in Doves and Pigeons, or keeping them as pets.

Today however, I came across a site that mentioned "Fruit Pigeons". Fruit pigeons? I asked myself, having never heared of them before. I googled them, and my eyes just about popped out of my head.

Do yourself a favor, and google 'Fruit Pigeon images'. I promise, that you will be amazed :-).

I actually met someone who breeds some of these fruit pigeons/doves. Stunning birds but what a mission to feed! This gentleman needed a constant supply of fruits like mango, pawpaw, different melons etc. I just kept imagining how expensive it must work out

Rox

Didn't think of that, hmmm.
I guess it's ok, if you live in the tropics, and have all these fruits growing in your back yard.
I just happen to come across them, looking at another site about doves. Then I had to google them, and I was absolutely astounded by the lovely colours. I never knew there were such creatures in the pigeon family.

Live and learn :-D.
