Red breasted silver ??

Post by Flight Feathers » Fri Jan 19, 2018 4:17 am

Hi there,

I have a male button quail who is silver with a redish/chestnut colored tummy. Is this just what the usual silver Color is like or does this mean he is a red breasted silver? Thanks!

I've attached a button quail color chart that helped me out loads when my boys first started feathering out. My silver had the rusty feathers from his tail feathers up most of his tummy, stopping short at his breast and was identified for me as a basic silver. The pictures I've seen of red breasted silver males show the red feathers up nearly to their bibs.
