These quail are a few days old. They are really cute at this age.

Yes, I get about 40 eggs a day from my females. I scramble them and put them in the microwave and feed them back to the quail. I only incubate when I need some to sell at the Kentwood Community Market.

OK, if you plan to put them outside.... MAKE SURE YOUR CAGE IS SECURE!
I had 14 1 time, all died from a HUGE tx rat snake. They were full grown aswell. I'm just warning you because seeing that you live in Louisiana, which is real close to texas, i would guess that it is prime snake country. Don't underestimate those fatties, they are agile, can scale a brick wall, and can fit through the most bullet proof of cages. Just a warning, because i promise we had that cage bullet proofed, but no, mean ol' snake got em'! Thats just a warning to think twice b4 u put them outside.

They are so precious, eh? Like mini chicken chicks. God I loved mine. :) Goodluck.

Been outside for over a year. No problem here.
Anyway so sorry to hear about your babies. I find that button quail are button quails worst enemy. They can really be vicious and cannibalistic at breeding time especially. There must be more females than males. At least 3 females per male. That is my experience.
