DITTO! Well said, Candy.

So many times we pass up the ones that really need our help. I feel it's a way to repay them for all the joy they have given us. This world needs more 'kind hearts' like you

Sorry for the loss. I did the same thing the other week, and she died in my hands right when I got home....

Aw very sorry to hear that Albert (and Alison for yours too). I echo Candace's sentiments - thankfully the survivors carry us through.

The Cubans are doing very well though I was and am a touch concerned... when I got home yesterday to feed all the birds, I found a lot of nesting material just outside the cage with a lot of grey feathers mixed in. I suppose they used their own grey feathers to line the nest but I'm not sure why they seem to be removing the inside of the nest. I'm thinking perhaps to get ready to refurnish it for the next clutch. I gathered up the nesting material and placed it inside the cage again but then thought NOOOOO I can't encourage nesting while the chicks are still unweaned!!!

I'm trying to check if any of the chicks looks plucked but can't notice anything... yet. I think the chicks might be 2 females and 1 male and I know the father (they say) will attack the male offspring and even try to kill it, so I'm trying to keep watch but it's rather impossible when I'm out at work for 11 hours of the day. I'm also trying to watch to see if the chicks are eating/drinking on their own yet. If they are begging they sure do it quietly!! I never hear them.

How long have they been out of the nest now? They should be weaned any day now no? I think they'll be fine, though it stinks that you will be at work if something bad happens.

What do you plan on doing with the chicks? Swapping them for new bloodlines? I'm just curious. :D

They fledged on June 16th so they've been out a couple of weeks now. I'll be selling them - not looking for any trades of other Cubans.
