I came home from work today to find both Fire Finch babies had fledged! I caught them both up and banded them. The second one was very difficult to band with a B size band but eventually I got it on him not without getting some of the antibiotic ointment from his leg/foot spread over to his wing. Fire Finch babies are very tiny in my suddenly big and clumsy hands. But they are both flying and perching very nicely already! =D>

Awww thanks everyone!! I appreciate your comments! :D

Update - Fire Finch babies do not go back into the nest at night. [-(

Now I just hope the Socs can wean these two and also hatch the 5 other Fire eggs I put in their nestbox 2 days ago. They have been sitting on them quite well. [-o< That would be amazing!

The "baby colour" is pretty? Okay. I'd prefer when they are coloured up to their adult colours.
