No, just the males. But CBs are really easy to sex visually--the female is always more drab with less blue than the male.

Once again Sally is correct - The females do not sing! And although the females are a little lighter they are still pretty fine looking birds. *Blaze*

The females do dance, however - nothing is funnier than watching a pair do the tango on a perch!

its funny you say that because the one i have had a mate witch had a darker blue colour to it and it sang and while they were together the one that i have now never sang when it was in with it and also a professional breeder told me that yes the females do sing sometimes when there alone but its nat as sharp as the males so you guys werent much help this time lol because i still think its a female but thats ok maybe you guys can help me another time

I have a proven pair of cordon bleu finches (they've nested, laid eggs, and the eggs have hatched). They both sing, though the male sings the most frequently. The female on occasion sings a true song while holding a piece of grass in her beak and doing a slow hopping dance in front of the male, just like his courting dance. However, their songs are different from one another - I can tell who is singing instantly by the song. Hard to describe, but it's almost like a counterpoint to his song. Both songs are very pretty though.

Oops, you got me! I assumed, since I've never heard my females sing, that only males sing. If I'd done my research, I would have found out that indeed females do sing. I'm always learning something from this forum!
