I have 2 pairs of Zebs. One pair have eggs in their nest and the other pair are nesting but have not yet laid eggs (I've had them together for 4 months now). The male dances and sings to the female, but she just doesn't seem interested

Missi, first of all, are you sure "she" is a "she"? If you are not sure, please post a picture so we can help.
Second, do you know how old she is? She could be either to young or to old. Third, he just might not be the right guy for her. Not every pair will hit it off and go into breeding mode. Although, that is rare for Zebras.
Finches are like potatoe chips. You can't have just one.

Here is "her" photo (I have made a thread about this before, I think?).

Many more can be seen in their album.

Sorry to hijack the thread

Yap, looks like a boy and a girl to me also. In fact, he looks just like one of my Silver Florida Fancies.

I don't know. He doesn't sing like the male of my pair with the eggs. He just "beeps". They nest together. Have both taken turns putting nesting material in the nest. Go to bed together. Just no mating....

hi missi
not all males have bars...like finchaholics florida fancy and the hen looks like a cfw female maybe if you try him in a cage on his own away from the others he may sing..he may feel threatened by the otheres.where they the last pair to go in the cage.....as there is a pecking order to abide by

So maybe check to see if they are in a high traffic area, and if so move them to a more private corner. I have had Zebras unable to breed because they are just to nervous from being disturbed all day. Try that and see if it helps.
Like many have said on this forum "watch what you wish for because soon you will be trying to fine homes for all those babies". :D Good luck.
i think i had this problem too
mines started laying bu ti kept finding the eggs on the floor of the cage. i think that they would get spooked and knock the eggs out the nest. so i made a bigger nest and moved them to a better corner. they are happy but they are still jumpy being in a new corner. and they haven't gone in the new nest yet but they are sitting on top of it. i guess that is good at least now they are going near it . im about to cut up some of my knitting yarn and give it to them for nesting material (it is cotton)
