My new Blue-Capped Cordon Blues
Yesterday went to the pet store to get some bird supplies. Saw some BCCB for sale and before I know I was carrying a pair home
. Paid $100 for the pair. Here a pic. They are not Banded. Should I take a risk breading them?

4 Pair Lady Gouldian, 1 Pair Red Head Parrot Finch, 1 Pair Red Head Star Finch, 1 Pair Green Singer, 1 Pair Owl Finch, 1 Pair Lavender Finch, and a Pair of Green Back Twinspot.

Congrats! I personally wouldn't worry about banding unless you plan to pick up other pairs and want to keep track of which you picked up where/when.

They do look pretty!! Banding may come in handy to tell the chicks from the parents after they colour up too.

Congrats, they are one of my favorites! That is a really good petshop price for them. Is this a Mom and Pop type petshop? If so, I'd call them and ask if they have any history on them. If they bought them from one breeder, then chances are good that they are either a breeding pair that the breeder doesn't need anymore, or they are siblings. It would be worth finding out.

Damn ! They look just like mine. I can't think of that many finches that are as cute as CBs. Very pretty birds to look at .
