eggs in a nest

Post by cvn809 » Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:57 pm

I am not sure what type of bird built a nest in my pot of impatiens. I thought it was a robins nest, because the eggs were a pale blue. However, after the baby birds arrived, I noticed a lot of redheaded birds flying away from the nest. There were 5 eggs in the nest and they all hatched. They were brown in color with darker markings. Is it possible this a nest of finches instead? Unfortunately I was unable to take pictures.

Thank you for any help with this. :)

My guess would be that they're house finches - they love potted plants. Here's a link with pictures:

Thank you very much Hillary. This is the bird that had made a nest in my hanging plant. I'm glad to be able to put a name to the species
