12-20 ~ Little fawns

Post by cindy » Mon Dec 20, 2010 9:37 pm

Little fawns almost ready to step out into the world...one was getting a little curious and leaned pretty far out but retreated back inside.

Sweet. I am always amazed at how fully feathered your birds are before they flegde. Mine always seem to still be getting their last feathers when they step out into the big world.

Monique, funny you mentioned that...after downloading the picture I walked past the penguin zebra cage and noticed something very small in the corner of the cage. It was a baby zebra, not fully feathered scared as can be. I picked him up and popped it back into the nest, when I did another one popped out. I put them both back since it looks like they have about another week in protective custody before the should be coming out.

This is exactly why I haven't taken any more "nest" pictures of the Grens because it always seems when I try to help they just keep popping out like popcorn!

I love your picture Cindy - beautiful Zeeb babies :D

Thanks Misty and Deborah...the little penguin must have been out for sometime because the parents were carrying on for a bit. If I had not walked by their cage after taking the first picture in the other cage I might not have noticed it hiding under a treat cup. These little guys pop out like actual penguin hopping onto the land after a swim in the ocean!
