Nope. He was the only chick in this first clutch that hatched-- there were 2 other eggs -- DIS. However, his little Zebbie Mommy is now sitting in the nest with him on some new eggs so maybe some young brother's or sisters soon after he fledges... hope these new parents can handle feeding a fledgling and newborns too for a bit!

Ify situation. A lot depends on the chick. via my nestcam, I watched a zebra chick go barging into the nest pushing the societies off the eggs. If she does that to her parents, the eggs are at risk.

That looks like a metal band. Can you remove it at this point and replace it w a bigger one?

Many of my zebra pairs go to nest while the young are still weaning. Mom usually sits as dad feeds out. Seeing how you only have one chick mom may not mind the company. If your chick is a male, dad may not want it around after a while. ZJust keep an eye on the little one.

Thank you, yes, I've already removed the band -- Misty told me it was too small. :)

Thank you all for your advice. It is appreciated. We'll see what happens and I'll hope for the best!

Glad you got the band safely off her leg.
I have trouble getting the split plastic ones off, usually because I misband a bird, I dread the thought of removing a metal band.

I finally got my courage up to try metal bands, so I ordered some to use this year, along w my usual plastic bands. Now I have to get up the courage to actually put it on the chicks. But I need to get chicks first. :(
