Zebra male offspring, washed out markings yellow tip beak??
This is Patches (father normal/fawn) and Cleo (female visual normal gray) offspring...the pair has produced fawn females, silvers, fawn Isabel, normal gray females, normal split males.
They produced this little guy....his marking are faint, and/or barely there. The beak tip is almost a dark yellow, the color extends down the side of the beak a little. The top tail feathers are white.
The parents came from John...Their son a visual normal was paired with a fawn female...they produced a fawn male.

He's adorable! Do you think he could be a yellow beak? I've heard of them and looked at photos on the internet. He's very handsome! Is this after first molt?

He has gone through one molt already....it is the oddest markings or lack of and the half tone beak...I've seen yellow beaks on efinch but never saw one before. I wonder if his beak will change or stay as is.
I am not sure what to pair him with I have a pretty little white FF female but not sure what the mix would do....I also have a light Fsilver female!

Do you only make strange looking zebras?
Never seen something like this before..
He almost look like a female.
Genetic fluke?
Or just very diluted little guy.

I know, what is up with that!!!!....I am begining to think there is something in the water!!! (The parents came from John...AKA Johnboy). I have had them for two year now. About 2 clutches ago they started to not only give me normals, males split to fawn but now the give silvers and fawn Isabel....but this!!! Next thing you know one will have a peacock tail!!!
The Black cheek pair on the other thread are from another breeder!!!
Gotta be the water.
Thank Janine.....this is the guy that sounds like a baby duck....he doesn't sound zebra!!!!

It isn't not just you Cindy, our guys have produced a myriad of oddballs of late as well. Those dang Zebra genes! If this is the line that has FF in it, your boy could be a SF/FF. Not all of them have the fawnish coloration with a pronounced fleck pattern. Some can look almost exactly like Normal Grays with only slight variations (including sometimes a slight washing out of the color). Our very first baby ended up being like that. The parents produced another one just like him and both boys ended up producing some beautiful offspring for us.
As for the faded markings he could just be a slow developer. We've noticed some boys on occasion take longer to color out than others. Sometimes even within the same clutch. Keep us updated on the little guy's progress.
