Zebra egg swap!!!

Post by cindy » Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:10 am

I have noticed a few people stating that there are few of the zebra mutations available in their areas.

This is something to consider....eggs shipped to them for fostering. I did this with Domenic, the eggs went from Florida to Nevada. It was an interesting journey for the little egg. It takes some prep on the end of both parties, the person that is getting the eggs needs to have a pair set up at the same time as my pair, the eggs from the sender have 7 days to play with before non viable. Shipping the quickest way possible increases the odds for the eggs to hatch.

All my BC mutations (including BC CCFW) are on eggs or with young. The next time I go to set them up I can send a few eggs (I pull the first three eggs and ship on the day the third is layed. Best to do this over a weekend, ship Monday. I also have Florida Fancy and Florida Silver, both pairs give FS, FF, Isabel (no tear) and fawn (w/tear).

The Florida Fancy and Florida Silver are on eggs and the young when old enough are being shipped to John in Louisianna along with BC and BC CCFW and splits. The splits are a BC paired with a BC CCFW...the pair produces both BC and BC CCFW. The BC CCFW from this pair come out bigger than the BC CCFW. I also have paired a Split with a BC to see what ratio I get. So far I either get a white bird or a black bird with the black cheeks.

I also am starting a colony of penguins...trying to get at least three pairs going, one penguin male and female just hatched 4 young.

In return if you have a mutation I can not find here we can swap eggs. This can be done with any finch so you can bring new blood lines into your flock.

If you go into search and type in egg swap or shipping eggs there are a few threads in regards to how to do this.

This is Domenic's thread....
