Sexing Zebra

Post by ViperX » Tue Sep 26, 2006 2:52 am

I am wondering if this bird is a hen or a cock. It would apear to be a hen but its just kinda weird.

I guess it doesn't have the spots like the cocks do. But oh well, I will see what you think.

If it is an adult bird, it is a hen. Some cocks can look like that before they molt out. Also, I think it looks more like a pied bird than a penguin hen considering the white on the wings and the top of the head.

Males (even pied ones) will usually have *some* evidence of male markings--pieces of a breast bar, cheek patches, and/or the side flanking.

Good luck,

Crystal
