Looks like a Chaffinch hen to me!
I had a pair before and that looks like it.

Does look a bit like one. But this bird was at Petsmart. I don't think they'd sell chaffinches there..

Why would you say that?
Could have been confused for a
canary and got mixed in an order.

Because chaffinches are sorta rare..in North America imo. I've only seen them once at a show and they were $200 each.

Plus it's not on their (petsmart's) webste and I'm pretty sure that those are the only types of birds they're allowed to sell.

I had a better look, and blew up the picture.
The white on the wings is a reflection on the glass.
It's a cut throat hen.

If you want Chaffies, I can put you in touch with people in Ontario who keep and sell them.

I also think it's a female cut-throat.

Aren't chaffinches a little stouter and smaller? I've never seen any in the US as pets but seen them in the wild in Europe.
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

Actually, the bird did have a lot of white on it's wings, it wasn't a reflection..It also has an orange beak.

Plus, don't cutthroats have a sorta speckled colouring? This bird was pretty much a solid tan/fawn colour.

Then, I would have to have closer look!
The head sure looks like my cut throat hen!

It could be a pied?
I have seen them in white, but only males.
Might be worth getting her and see if she
has any white babies?

Just Google white cut throats and you will see pictures.

Do they still have the bird at the store? Maybe you could get a picture with a higher resolution?

What does the store say what bird it is?

It looks like it may be a hybrid? I thought it would be a siverbill, but it has white wings and an orange beak. Does sort of look like a chaffinch. And petsmart never knows wat they have around here. They have anything that says finch in one cage.
