Aggressive Species?

Post by flrancho » Tue Oct 25, 2011 8:39 am

I've always liked the more aggressive species of finches, but haven't gotten any, with the exception of my Pin-tailed Whydah pair, because of their aggressive behavior. Why do the pretty ones have to be the ones that are so nasty? :D

Anyway, I read that some of these aggressive species can be housed together with other birds if the flight/aviary is large enough and the species are compatible.

I've been doing some research, but would like everyone's opinion on some of the more aggressive finches I'm interested in:

Green Singer Finch
Bronze Mannakin
Paradise Whydah & Melba Finch
Cut Throat Finch
Orange Weaver
Pin-tailed Whydah & St. Helena Waxbill

What are your opinions/stories of these. Could any of these be mixed together in a 6 ft flight. I also have Javas, and have read they can go well with aggressive species due to their size... would you recommend housing Javas with any of these?
