Cordon Bleu with Zebras?

Post by Anne73 » Wed Nov 02, 2011 8:19 pm

Would you think that a single male Cordon Bleu would be a safe mix with two old Zebra finch females in a large flight cage setting or not? Would the Zebras push him around or ?
Gouldians, RC Cordon Bleu's, and a 9 year old zebra finch.

I'd say try it. The cordon bleu should be able to hold his own weight with two little zebras.

Some cordon bleus are somewhat shy others are flighty. The CB's are considered a passive, mine were very private. Zebras are considered aggressive/pushy. They may pick on the CB, it will stress the bird out.

Owning both species and going based on experience I would let the CB have his own space and possibly a fellow CB in the future.

my cordon blues and zebra finches are on my large back porch but they only bother their own kind and share the same feeding areas. but they do have plenty of room and hiding areas to retreat too.
ten blue capped cordon blues, one male red-cheeked cordon blue, four blue breasted cordon blues, 5 gouldians; two parakeets, 9 owls, five blue-faced parrot finches, two green singers, four stars, 2 shaft tails, four gold breasts, two orange cheeks, two lavenders and sixteen societies.
