Green Singer Molt

Post by ranchnanny » Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:06 am

I have a pair of GS and I have a question about the male.
When they fledge are they feathered out in adult feathers?
How soon after they fledge do they have their first molt?

My male looks a bit shabby and I thought he might be starting to molt. He appears to be young to me younger then the hen. She is a bit larger and has a fuller body.

I don't have Green Singers, but baby birds first have juvenile plumage, even if they look like little adults when they fledge, they still will molt into their adult plumage after a time, depending on the species it could be a month or two or much longer.
