My first Society Finches

Post by pupDr » Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:51 pm

I picked up two cute crested Societies today. I've been looking online to try and determine what color they are. Do I have a chocolate pied and a cinnamon pied? Thanks!

The one on the left is a chocolate pied and the one on the right looks like a chestnut or fawn pied. Congratulations! They look great!

Thanks! I don't know what sex they are...neither one has made a sound yet. I've always wanted a crested bird after taking care of a friend's Gloster Canary for a while. They're so cute!

First of all, Congrats! I do agreed with Deborah. You've got a chocolate pied & chestnut pied. Although I hope they are the same sex because i don't recommended breeding crest to crest --- not good for offspring. Good luck.

Oh, I didn't plan on making these two a pair. I just couldn't decide which one to get, so I got them both. :D There is going to be a bird fair nearby in March so I hope to get a couple more then. Should be fun!

Love the picture, they are adorable. I too really like my societies. I have four with one being a crested. Enjoy your new featherkids.

Congrats! I have a crest chocolate pied male! I also have a fawn and chocolate pied male and a chocolate self hen. Be sure those two do not breed! They will sadly create deformed babies. If they are of the same gender I would get them partners for crested babies.
