I know Quaker Oats makes them - they are sold in the cereal aisle in the grocery. I don't know if they have plain ones though or if they all have some sort of flavoring added. They're made of whole grain and are gluten-free.

Re: java rice finch
Herman Bros sells paddy rice, I'm pretty sure it's not what's in the grocery store though. Paddy rice is the individual rice kernels in their natural, unprocessed state, also called rough rice. When I had java's I also found some at larger bird stores in my area.

Good luck with your java's, they're a neat bird.

They do great on parakeet seed. It has larges oat groats. They do not require rice.

Re: java rice finch
I don't feed my Javas paddy rice. I was talking the folks at eFinch on Facebook and they said you could try giving Javas soaked brown rice...... that's the closest you can get to paddy rice without actually getting it. I haven't tried it yet. And birds will be birds and could still turn their beaks up at it. My Javas love their finch sees, egg food, napa cabbage and corn.
If you have any other questions, you can message me if you'd like. I have four Javas and four Java eggs in the nest.

Think I'll move this to the Species forum, where it might get more notice.
