Goldbreasted Waxbill Fledgling Size

Post by Sally » Mon Jun 16, 2008 11:00 am

This is a photo of one of my newly-fledged Goldbreasted Waxbills. Just wanted to have something to relate to with size, so I placed a US quarter and a UK shilling next to it, so you can see just how tiny these guys are. The photo is not very good, but it escaped right after I snapped this one, so it will have to do. (It's back in its cage, BTW, none the worse for its escape, detailed in a thread under Finch Chat.)

I was able to darken this photo a bit, so it is easier to see the baby.

Sally, I have one goal left and that is to find a pair of owl finches. Would you have any or know of anyone that might? Lol, then after that I do want a pair of star finches and that is only because, when my husband was in Huguley here I had one come up to me, I didn't think anything about it till I went to the other side and it followed me. And it became my lil angel while we were there. Have you seen the birds there in the main lobby?

All my Owls are related, so can't make up a pair. Have you checked craigslist? Someone had Owls on there recently, but they were in Dallas or beyond, so a bit far to go. I have lots of Star hens, but the males I have right now are promised to someone.

Yes, I have seen that aviary at Huguley Hospital--my doctor is over there, so when I have an appointment, I figure the morning is shot, because I sit in the lobby and watch their birds! I'm told they also have one over at the Senior Center.

Anyway, once things calm down here (company, mini vacations, etc.), probably a couple of weeks away, I'll see if I can get you some birds.
