Male Gouldian singing question

Post by Crystalnurse » Sat Dec 09, 2006 11:22 pm

Hi,
I have 2 pairs of Gouldians in seperate cages, very beautiful birds. One of the males sings beautifully, the other doesn't sing at all.

Are they a certain age when they start to sing? I do believe that the one who is not singing is younger.

Do they only sing when they are ready to breed? I do have nest in their cages. The one who is singing goes in and out of his nest. He also has thrown out all of the nesting material that I put into the nest.

Thanks for any info that you can provide me.

Mine are all different. One started singing when he was only about 6 weeks old, while others don't sing much at all. If he's interested in his mate, though, I would think he'd be singing to her....
