I don't personally, but a friend of mine does have both the red and blue faced parrot finches. They are active. You must just be used to Gouldians....the stand and model finches.

Parrot finches are "forest finches" and not savana finches as like the oter species we have. It's normal that they are very active birds.
They need big cages, and if you give them real plants it's better.
For the nest..you can use a normal box nest for exotic birds, but parents need live food and peaceful.

I have a pair. They are the most active ones in my aviary. They are first up in the morning and last down at night. They are constantly building nest and I have seen them breed many times. But I have see zero eggs. Maybe one day. They have great personalities! But they do need alot of room. Get him a friend soon...... and good luck telling the hen from the cock. I still don't know which is which until I see them breed.

But I am starting to think its not how much it cost but can I find one to buy, also looking for CB male no luck

My RH Parrot finches were $125 each, but that included DNA sexing.

Mine are extremely active, just like all of the others. I think I paid between $100 and $125 per bird. Some of mine are imports, and some come from a local breeder. So far only the import + local pair have been interested in their nest. They have a large wicker nest, which they filled with coconut fiber. I found one egg on the floor of the cage, but so far no sign of sitting so I'm not sure just how serious they are. My local + local pair are in a community cage and have laid eggs several times (also using a large wicker nest with coconut fiber), but never showed any interest at all in sitting.

God.. $100 for a parrot finch... I would give you half of mine if you were in my vicinity! They are high metabolism birds that go non-stop... and I mean at everything....They are a pretty bird however, thats if you ever get to have a good look at them!

So.... there you are. VERY active birds. Mine have a open flight so they get lots of activity and I can see them very easily. They are great birds, but I really think they need ALOT of room. Completely non-agressive and very inquisitive.

I think everyone said enough already about how active they are, another thing that caught my attention about them is that they love bating to the point they get completely soaked (almost like a dog in the rain) and they are very messy eaters, flinging seed all over the place.

I know I'm almost on my own here, but does anyone have an idea if I can keep red headed parrot finches with peter's twinspots? Just an idea I'm investigating?

Aren't these the little birds that you just bought? I thought they were both passive ones. I wouldn't think that should be a problem. My parrot finches get along with all. Other than..... they love to eat and will somestimes run off others while they are eating.
As for the bathing....... they LOVE water.

 Ha ha! I forgot about that! Mine look like little punk rockers covered in wet spikey feathers when they're done! Unfortunately I don't have twinspots (one of the few species I don't have, I guess  ) so can't say how they'd get along. I have a pair in a tall cage with three other pairs, and other than some half-hearted chasing sometimes they do well with the others (CBs, owls and stars).
