Dear all,
I purchased one male Gouldian and one female Star finch a couple of days ago. Both birds were in the same cage when I purchased them.
The Gouldian is actively singing and flying around the cage and is a great joy.
The female Star finch, however, sits on one perch and is significantly less active than the male Gouldian. She appears to be curious and moves her head to look around, but moves from her perch to eat and drink and then returns to it. Her feather are not ruffled, her eyes look fine, and she appears to be in good health. She sometimes gets pecked at by the Gouldian.
Can anyone comment on the level of activity I should expect from a female Star finch as compared to a male Gouldian? I just purchased them two days ago so could it be that she is not yet as well adjusted?
THANKS!

I have a pair of stars. They are not overly active birds. They are about like the gouldians..... I think they are just trying to adjust.

Welcome!
It's only been 2 days. It takes at least a week for them to feel more at ease. Some individual birds regardless of the species, are just more inquisitive and are more active may just appear more happy.

Hi, I agree with the comments give them more time. Stars are not that active and like privacy so are naturally more shy birds in my experience.
