Strawberry song
I have two pair of strawberries, one of the males has a very pleasing song...it starts with three leading ascending notes followed by two rounds or ro-ri-ro and ending with a softer notes of krrrrr....reminds me of flycatchers. He has a bad leg, but can still stand normally at a slightly abnormal angle. I am afraid he might not mate successfully. He is the smallest but the loudest of all the finches I have. Love his tink, tink tink calls in the morning, which rise above all the noise. The song can tell us where they originate from. I'm happy to hear any comments.

finkfinch
I would love to have some Strawberries but they cost lot's of $ over here. Maybe in the future someday.
Regarding the injured leg and the mating. I was worried about my Gimpy (Socie male with a twisted foot) but he seems to manage just fine. I was told, that it only takes a couple of seconds for most of these guys (LOL !!!) and apparently, where there's a will, there's a way.
I would love to hear your little fellow's song. Maybe record him one day, and share.

Re: Strawberry song
Aw, your little one sounds lovely!
I wouldn't worry about his breeding abilities at all, since mating usually occurs while hovering in mid-air. No legs required! LOL
He sounds very sweet and spunky.
I'd love to hear his song if you get a chance to record him!

Thanks Lovezebs and MiaCarter.
Uploaded the mp3, not sure if this posting will be successful not. In the recording the Strawberry song is unmistakable but there are two other calls, the high pitched calls/songs were the Pintail Parrotfinch and the soft squeaky calls were the orange-cheeked waxbills.
