They all look settled and content. Is that your outdoor aviary? Looking good.

Is that a male Yellow Head Star, that I see over there? Would he jump into a wee little box , and ship himself up to Canada? :-D

lovezebs yep that's one of the two males I recently purchased at a bird mart. He's looking for a pretty little yellow face girlfriend. Do you know anyone that would be perfect for him??? Maybe a little closer to Texas?

I am totally enjoying my outdoor aviary (almost as much as my finches). Everyone that comes to visit will pull up a chair and we sit out there enjoying their beautiful songs. This has turned out better than I ever dreamed. I've been planning on expanding as soon as I can come up with a workable plan. My addiction has really taken hold and won't let go!!!

Jen
I think it's a wonderful addiction to have.

As to a girlfriend for your little boy, my Sunny, would be perfect. :-D

I have the "radiator" type heater with thermostat. And I have a wireless thermometer set up so I can monitor the temp easily. I shut the door to the enclosed section at night after everybody has gone inside on really cold nights and I open the door during the day for them to come and go freely. So far so good....but this is my first winter and it makes me nervous having them outside so I'm constantly checking on them. I have some modifications I want to make to the enclosed section. The biggest obstacle has been all the babies that hatched since they've been outdoors. I just banded six spice finch babies, three zebra babies and three CB babies all in about 45 days!!! Now my Senegal fires are setting on a nest! I need to expand soon!!! There sure is a lot of "snuggling" going on out there!!!

Doesn't seem like wintery weather is slowing them down any, lol. I don't blame you, I would totally be out there every hour checking on them. Heck I do that with mine now, and they are all inside.

They look great! Many of the African species breed in our winter, even though the daylight hours are shorter--guess they just can't adjust to our Northern Hemisphere!
