Nice birds! bred by yourself? If so congratulations on the achievement as these birds are notorious for being finnicky breeders lol
Bird species bred up till now : Zebras, Bengalese, Javas, Diamond doves, Canaries.

They look wonderful! And that is definitely a great achievement, to get CB babies on the perch.

Thank you guys! Yep, Kristofer, bred in my aviary! Very proud of my baby blues. I lost one of the babies to the cold because they built their nest OUTSIDE of the aviary, but these three thrived! Love 'em!

Congratulations you have accomplished what many others have not. May I ask what food you have been feeding them. my bccb are on eggs right now who knows if they are fertile or not but I only have small meal worms for live food and veggies and my egg food I am hoping that's going to be enough.

That's fabulous, Jen. Kudos for getting yours to this stage. I'm thinking I should give you my pair and see what you can do with them.

Jen

Yay!!! Such cuties. For some reason cb's always look bigger in pictures, than in real life. I'm always surprised by how really small they are when I see them. But oh so cute :-).

Congratulations.

These birds are amazing. I've been looking to get some myself and those nests? From my experience they're the best.

Please tell me where you got both!

The nest they are pictured in is not their original nest. I only use that "canary nest" to put strips of paper, white feathers and other nesting materials in for everyone to raid! It is by the entry into my aviary and when I walk in with ANYTHING in my hand, everyone is watching in anticipation...no kidding...you can see it in their little faces.

The CB parents built their nest in a large covered finch nest you can buy at any pet store. (not the small one). I feed them fresh boiled egg mixed with goodies that include live small meal worms. Right now I hope they don't start another clutch because it is only going to get colder over the next few months. They tend to return to their original nest, but as I mentioned, it is outside of the aviary away from the heat. I started keeping a couple of rotting pieces of wood (that I noticed termites and small bugs crawling around underneath) under some trees where it stays damp and the bugs seem to like living there. When I flip the wood over and see bugs and termites, I take it into the aviary and watch everyone attack the bugs, including the CB's. I'm not sure if this is what set them into the breeding mode, but I plan on keeping some live bugs available for them to munch on. Best of luck with your blues!

If your CB's are on eggs, that is a great sign! Unless they are a young pair, you should have fertile eggs. I purchased my pair almost a year ago and they never showed any interest in a nest until I moved them into my outdoor aviary a couple of months ago. After watching them over several months, I know they were young when I purchased them. I can see the physical development in them now, that I wasn't familiar with when I originally purchased them.

Best of luck with your beautiful blues and let us know if their eggs hatch!!!!!

LOL...I have so much drama with my birds right now, my heart couldn't handle the pressure of keeping someone else's birds!!! As I mentioned before, it's only going to get colder, so this is not the time for birds to be having babies!!! I'm too old to take this stress! #-o #-o #-o #-o
