lovezebs It's ok Elana... go back to bed you poor thing. I hope you are feeling better today, and whatever else is getting better!!! I was worried about, and see? For good reason. But thank you, and thanks for the vote of confindence that they will get better with me. My mom this morning texted me (I have to leave the house real early on Tuesdays') So she texted me this morning to let me know that they are eating and drinking #:-S :D And I put in a new perch and she said they actually went to the new perch i put in!! YAAAY!!! I was really getting worried, cuz they don't move around a lot (unlike my Zebras that NEVER stop) But I'm wondering if where they were in a small cage for so long (the drive to the bird mart, the mart itself and the drive home) they are used to all this space, also does anyone know if different colored cage bars makes a difference to birds? They will be a year old in the summer, and they have always been in White cages, now they are in a black cage, do you think that could confuse them? lovezebs. Thank you! I'm so excited to have them, and can't wait til they settle in, (I have them in some kind of a quarantine right now, I used the A.I.L) and now I'm waiting to find out from someone if Invermctin is S76 and if it will do the same thing, or if i have to buy additiona medication, I guess because of the bird mart (airborn diseases) they neeed to be quarantined and treated, and the breeder said S76, but I don't have that...so.... I'm just waiting to see what to do on that. but I guess this morning they are doing well. I think also they have to get used to a new schedule mine is probably a little different than the breeder i bought them from ya know? But the first night, I woke up to one "night firght" (maybe) they flew around for a couple seconds, and then settled back in, but last night they made it through the whole night!!! So it's a lsow process, but they are coming along. I do love them, and btw Elana, yes there are 3 (the RH PB {breast or PC Whichever one is "PC" i'm not sure tee.hee.} is Liam, The RH LB is Finn, and the YH LB is Ren.) Ok, as usual I've rambled on enough! Thanks again, EVERYONE!

Invermctin is S76, Scatt does the same thing if you have that.
It's for air sac mites

Glad to hear that they are starting to settle in, Ellen. It usually doesn't take them too long.

I really don't think that the cage bar colour makes all that much of a difference to birds.

Yes, Gouldians, are definitely more calm and laid back, compared to Zebras, who are like the Energizer Bunny on steroids.

Regarding the meds, I'll let someone else tackle that one.

LOL! I still have no idea, where I got 'four' birds from..... :-J

lovezebs I'm looking at the pics, and the color of the swing in front of them actually has some of the birds coloring in it...so maybe that's why? Plus the fever...maybe you were seeing double!!! lol, What's funny is that like FOR REAL when I have a fever I have CRAZY dreams... so it's actually pretty likely!

Congrats on the additions! Careful it gets addicting I went from zero a year ago to get to getting my forth pair from BB here shortly.

As far as molting Ive seen that white spot in there chest when mine are other than that its hard to tell from the pictures. Give it a day or two the huge feather mess on the floor will be unmistakable lol.

If you remember the rescue gouldians of mine you commented on went from a white cage to black and there fine considering how they were when i got them.

My experience with those four and seeing there improvements in just a month tells me they respond well to a low stress enviroment and a good varied diet. I aslo added some supplements cuz of there condition.

My yh hen was housed in a small cage with a bonded pair of red heads and from the short period i had them caged together they seem to beat her up. From what i read yh seem to be the most timid so id watch for aggression toward her.

Feed em well and good luck

According to the info I got, it's the Red headed Goukds, that tend to be the more assertive ( I hesitate to say aggressive) of the colour mutations.

Not sure how true this is, as all my guys get along well, but are more than capable of standing up for themselves if the need arises.

Ginene I know, we're not suppose to have favorites, but he is mine too, not only cuz the Orange head, but cuz he is my "special" bird, and I got him just from emailing the breeder back and forth, she felt that I would make a good home for him (he lost a foot) so he's my special little friend.... Just waiting for him (all 3 actually) to warm up to me a little, but they are getting better!!! Another night w/ no frights,

spn1979 Thanks. I just saw your post, after I posted my reply to Ginene. Thank you. I have been keeping an eye, and they are all siblings and came from the same breeder, they are only a month apart... which now that I'm thinking about it does that make since (7/2 Birthday, and 8/15 birthday)?? Anyhow, I am keeping an eye bc the YH is "special" anyway (one foot) so he has to just kind of fly away anyway if he's pecked at because of his balance issues... but so far so good, however, NONE of them have moved very much. I've laid out fresh veggies everyday for them as well as a good seed mix, also tried egg food, but they haven't touched anything but the seeds.... I'm trying to get th other things closer to where their perch is, but i really can't. (hard to balance a dish on a perch ya know?) so my mom put the egg in one of those high back cups with the metal hooks right near their perch, and they still didn't eat it (that i saw) so i just keep trying and being patient, I'll have a better idea of how things are going on Saturday because I'll be able to spend the whole day with them. Thank you so much for the advice on the "aggressiveness" and the compliments. I love them!!! (the birds, and the compliments!!)

Congrats on your new Gouldians! They are beautiful. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. It's in part because of their song that attracted me to them initially, as well as I wanted to breed them but live in an apartment so volume was a factor. :D

Inlovesoarnge
The birthdays are close but from what i read its very possible. Then hen on another clucth while dad weans the first.

My new 4 would strictly eat spray millet if it is in the cage with them. I wanted to get them more protein and some supplements to get them healthy but wont touch anything but seeds. I bought a bunch of stuff from ladygouldian.com and it all went into some eggfood i made wich i freeze and break off pieces and feed. i ended up kinda having to force feed them, i thaw it and stir seed in it kinda coating all the seed. My theory is something has to be getting in there mouth. Its seems to be working as my bald hen is growing her hair back.

I thought your yh was a hen. Your situation is diffrent tham mine my yh hen was trapped in a small cage with a pair of rh's and one nest and they beat her up. She seems real cozy with her bh male right now so im hoping she looks alot better in 2 or 3 months so i can get them a box. Im not sure there would be fighting in an a male cage.
