Last time we got he birds i could resist their cuteness but today i couldn`t resist anymore. Rccb pair we got few weeks ago didn`t show any good health and whatever we did didn`t improve their looks so we took the birds back to the breeder and he took them back and exchanged with the black crowned waxbills. He is such a nice guy and he will definitely take care of the rccb`s.
Anyway i need help on black crowned waxbills.
I appreciate if you can pass your experience a little. I did some research at the forum and internet but not enough info.

Too bad about the Cordon's. They are such lovely birds.
Congrats regarding the Black crowned waxbills. They are cuteness personified. I wish they had some around here, I'd be on them so fast.
Sally, has some (if I remember right), and Iso, does as well. Should be able to advice you.

Re: Black crowned waxbill
The Lady who owns a bird store where I live has a pair of black crowned waxbills and I was so tempted to get them. I went for a pair of fire finches and a pair of red cheek cordons. The red cheek pair looked a little ruff but she has moved them to another cage for me till I get them next week. The male was bald on the head from being plucked and the female looked like she was about to die. Hopefully next week will be much improvement. If not I'm gonna go with the black crown waxbills. I did try to find some info on them but not much online.
Society Finches, Fire Finches, Strawberry Finches, Owl Finches, Plum Head Finch, Goldbreast Waxbill Finches, Orange Cheek Waxbill Finches, Blue Capped Cordon Finches, Zebra Finches, Bronzewing Mannikin Finches, Red-Cheek Cordon Blue Finches, and Button Quail

Re: Black crowned waxbill
Isobea has posted quite a bit about his Black-crowned Waxbills. I have some and can post more info later. They are typical waxbills, quite flighty. They get the same diet as any other waxbill--good finch mix with addition of egg food and veggies. Live food is probably necessary for breeding. They are monomorphic, so extremely difficult to sex. Their nails grow fast, so need frequent trimming (at least mine do).
