Zebra finches and Gold-breasted waxbills

I recently became the proud owner of two male gold-breasted waxbills! They are so sweet. I also have two female zebra finches. Is it possible to house these four together? I don't want the little ones to get picked on.

Currently, my zebras are in a 30 x 18 x 18 flight cage. The gold-breasteds are in a smaller cage that I typically use for transport (they're not squished, but it definitely isn't as roomy). Any advice would be appreciated, particularly from anyone who has this combination in their aviaries.

I would house the goldbreast separately...they are high energy birds and often a little more active during the night. Mine use to sing at the wee hours of the morning, more like 3 or 4 a.m.

Zebras even hens can be pushy and aggressive, they may not take to well to the little goldbreasts.

I completely agree with Cindy. Zebras and Goldbreast waxbills, definitely a no-no together .

Zebras, tend to be pushy, if not downright aggressive, and can do a lot of damage to a tiny Goldbreast.

Goldbreasts, as tiny as they are, need the biggest cage/flight that you can offer them. They are active little guys, and need lots of room to fly from side to side. Make sure, that whatever cage you get for them has a bar spacing of preferably less than half an inch distance. They are famous for squeezing between the bars (when frightened) and either getting stuck or making a run for it. The young in particular are prone to these escapes, but I've had adults squeeze between half an inch bar spacing and lead me on a merry chase.

Thanks for the input. I figured that it wouldn't be best to put them together, but I appreciate having it confirmed. Now I just need to find the right cage for the little guys!

Welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care and especially the Goldbreasted Waxbill. I have some of these, and they are simply adorable, I think you will really like them. I agree with the others that they probably won't mix well with the Zebras.
