Thanks - seems like just about ALL my finches want privacy. What gives? I wish they'd all incubate their eggs in the open!
But at least privacy makes it easier for me to put fake plants around their cage. Thanks again!

Yes, it does look like all birds want privacy when nesting. Although I'm sure my Shaftails will disagree, I'm always bugging them by moving around stuff in the aviary and doing nest checks and they don't seem to mind.

just put a few mirrors in Liz, so you can watch them while they feel hidden
in a couple of weeks time ( I hope) I may be getting up to 5 pairs of blue faced parrot finches. am nervous as hell though as it will be the first time I have freighted birds, they will be travelling half way across australia

Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

I haven't freighted birds either but I have heard a tip to put wet cotton balls in the box with them. Regardless of how much the box is knocked around they will still have water available.
I have a spare clutch of blue faced that will be fully coloured in a week or two if you want to make it 7 pairs.

That's a good idea Mick - put in mirrors before they 'get going' - why didn't I think of that!
Best wishes for your new birds coming your way shortly. I'm sure they will be fine!
