Sharing my gouldians

Post by Fexjo » Fri Jan 22, 2016 11:45 pm

Hi guys. Just joined the forum a few days ago and just want to share photos of my gouldians.
I have 3 pairs, with the normal already having some eggs on their nest and am still getting the yellows to pair up. Basically just new to these birds and while I tried my best to read particularly on what and SF and DF means, I still could not get the difference so I could use some of your help just to identify which of the birds on the photos are SF or DF. Thanks in advance.

Gorgeous pair of normals!
The RH on the first picture is a SF Pastel. Notice were it should be white in color it is gray and there is a bluish tint around the mask.
The YH on the right in the second picture also looks to be SF but I can't see the front as well to be positive.
Very pretty birds, best of luck with them.

Thanks Debbie. The YH also has a grayish shade so im taking it as a SF too. The normals already have 6 eggs in the clutch and have started incubating. Fingers cross, that they will hatch. The RH&OH are a bit difficult to pair up while the 2 OH are getting along pretty well.

I love those normals, I'm partial to the normal coloring, which is what first drew me to Gouldians.

You have some beautiful gouldians!

I have found them to be very willing and easy breeders (with the odd exceptions of course). Just make sure you have lots of egg food and greens available for when the chicks hatch. The parents go through food at an incredible speed.

Good luck and keep us updated :D

Hi there. Its been a while since my post. Just an update. First clutch did not hatch as they were all infertile. After that, i went on a 4 week overseas trip with second clutch in the nest. Whne i returnd, i could hear a lot of noise from the nest and found 10 chicks from two clutches. (6 from the RH/YH pair and 4 from the normals). Now, imm too excited too see what he offsprings would turn out. So happy with my first chicks.

Hi guys. Just happy to share here my first hatchlings. First photos are from my pair of Yellow gouldians above (RH&YH) with 4 chicks - 1 yellow bodied and the rest, im still unsure. Im not really good when it comes to genetics so I was surprised to see these different body color from the chicks.
I guess i need read more about these yellows. (So far, i read there are Australian, European yellow, but do not have any clue how to distinguish them so i don't even know what kind i have). As much as i do not want to practice crossbreeding, im totally ignorant at this stage. #-o

The second photo are from pair of normals who produced 3 chicks on their first clutch.

For now, i'll just try to enjoy these first hatches and see how they will turn out. Thanks. :D
