Gouldian - help sexing
Hello all! Any help in sexing these beauties? I know mom and dad but other than that it's just a guess. I want to separate by sex. Thanks!

Re: Gouldian - help sexing
It would help me if you told me what the genetics or at least the colours of the mother and father... Could probably figure it out then?!

Your males will be all RH/BH/YH. PB.SF Pastel (visually light green with grey where it is normally black.
Your hens will be RH/YH.PB.Green
If there are hidden genes things may be different.

It's very hard to see in those pictures but the dark PurpleBreast are the males and light PurpleBreast (more lilac in color) are the hens.
Are these pictures of the entire family?

No - I don't believe I was able to catch everybody. There are 7 babies. The green backs I can tell pretty much, but there are blues that I really have no idea.

Looks like 2 males and a hen that are blue. If the normally black areas are grey on the males then they are SF Pastel Blue

I'd agree with Debbie, unless your breeders are both split to lilac... then you have a conundrum haha

Re: Gouldian - help sexing
Thanks you guys. In looking closer I think of the babies I have 2 male black head/dilute (or pastel whatever it is called), 2 male salmon (red) head/blue, 1 salmon (red) head/blue female and 2 black head/green females. My 2 black headed females have really mottled faces - one is really bad. Am I doing/not doing something or is that normal?

And I guess blues can't show yellow? Cause their bellies are white.
