What a great cage, so clearly viewable. Your birds are gorgeous, that Strawberry male is so beautiful!

Cute fids there, Solo!
Hint - if you hit 'enter' after each photo url, then we won't have scroll across the screen - the pics will be: one below the other. Much easier to view that way.
I'm jealous of your male Strawberry in full breeding plumage!

Very nice photos. The birds don't seem to mind having their picture taken at all!

Hi Solo,
How are ya keeping now the sun is shining, eh? Isn't it terrific?
Boy that's so neat that you can let your birds out of their cages like that. They seem pretty tame. Love the Strawberry, too. I saw a pair at Petland last summer, but the male had one bad toenail that grew extra long and was straight. I decided not to get them, but didn't realize at that time how rare they were!

great cage. it's nice to see a pic of a strawberry male when he is in full colour
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Your birds look very happy! Thanks for sharing your pics
Do you not have trouble getting them all back in the cage? They seem so calm!

Thanks Solo..
I do recognize the Cutthroat, but forgive my ignorance. Everyone else seems to recognize the others.

Thank you all for the compliments and the comments. I think a plexiglass cage is the best way to enjoy watching your birds. It's not cheap to make but it's still cheaper than buying one of those big wire cages. But a wire cage doesn't give you the same view a plexiglass one does.
Ian, I'm not sure but I think Strawberry finches, just like many other small finches fall under "waxbills". That's the female Strawberry in the second pic.
Fran, any day I can see the sun I'm at least a bit happier. Nothing makes me happy like a sunny day, especially if you live in a place where the sun is a rare thing in winter and you suffer from SAD. Today was such a gorgeous day, thank God.
The toe nail growing too long on these finches is a common thing I think. You should've bought'em if that was the only problem they had. Well, too late to tell u that but don't feel bad about it. But I don't know why these birds are so rare and so in demand.
Steph, u're welcome. No I don't have much problems putting them back in the cage. I leave the door open and they know how to go back into the cage. They like to hop around on top of the wire cage and then they go back to their cage.
