I've seen them in the pet stores here. They are interesting looking, but kind of gross, too! You can sure see how they got their name. They seem to be quite common here. It makes me wonder why it seems that the most common birds you see in pet stores, are all in the "aggressive" list. Cutthroats, Zebras, Green Singers, Safrons... wieird. Why is that?

The pet stores here in Iowa don't carry anything like that. LoL. I just read about them on this forum and saw some pictures. They kind of look like little turkeys. :D :D

Funny, that's what I think of every time I see a star finch! Everyone seems to love them, but I can't get past thinking of a turkey! Maybe I'd like the yellow star, but have never seen them here.

I think the male Cut-throat is a beautiful bird, but then brown is my favorite color. The female not much to look at. Just like a female Sparrow. I had mine with two Strawberry finches in a small cage first, and later in a bigger cage without any problems. Cut-throats however like to take over nests, or at least check them out. Even though the little Strawberries on several occasions kicked the Cut-throats out of the nest.

This pic was taken with a video cam. That's why it's not clear but it's clear enough
