The Gouldian babies I noticed about a week or more ago seemed to be eating seed and millet on their so I decided to give them a extra week to make sure.I know with canaries stress on the aldult birds is raising the chicks so I am guessing the same with finches.I want to keep my aldult pair for a long time as I know now they are good parents.

It is a lot of work for the parents to raise a clutch up. I use to raise canaries and I have found that the canaries took a lot more eggfood, boiled egg to raise the chicks up. I have had gouldians raise without any eggfood at all. I do offer it but not all of my breeding gouldians partake in it. But you are right, it is the raising of the young that stresses the birds.
