Gouldian Question @ babies

Post by NJP » Mon May 18, 2009 11:39 am

My Gouldians just had 3 (looks like) chicks, a few days ago. They are just starting to get their first feathers. But I also had an extra female Gouldian in the cage before the mating took place. And now the 2 parents are letting "auntie" feed the babies. Is this normal? At first the parents wouldn't let her go near the nest, now I think they love it & appreciate their new found helper. Or maybe they just gave up trying to keep her away?

yes, this is very normal.

I have had other gouldians to help feed my babies many times.
I have one male that feeds everybody's babies.

Also, I have had juvie gouldians to help with the feeding.

That is great. It means they will make good parents also.
