RCCBs building!
My male RCCB is bouncing off the cage walls and playing with coco fiber. The female is also in the pile of fiber. They are picking strands up flying to the perch on the other side of the cage then to the nest.
COULD IT BE? The little blue powder puff statues are finally doing something that resembles getting ready to breed!!!!
Today is cage cleaning day but I am afraid if I go in there, not do their cage but clean everyone else they will stop. Cages get cleaned and papers changed Mondays and Fridays.

GO CINDY!!!
Finally! The CB's caved into your peer pressure!
If both parties are interested in nest building, I would say that I won't be long now. My CB hen is incubating right now too.

Re: RCCBs building!
I added more fibers to the bottom of their cage and they have been near the nest all morning...this is not a guarantee I realize but it is a start!
I've noticed both are such a rich blue, a bit darker than before.

Good luck Cindy. Do you have any society finches you could use to foster if necessary?

Re: RCCBs building!
I don't have them (societies) set up since I am running out of space at the moment with 2 clutches each of zebras and shaftails that fledged and weaned. I am trying to place the first clutches from each but it is slow here!
I would love to see the RCCBs raise their own. The only ones nesting are the zebras and maybe a pair of owls, I have to peek! The Gold Breast have eggs in two separate nest. One pair is sitting one one set and the lone female is sitting on 2 little eggs in her nest. But they are not consistant in sitting...to busy flitting around periodically.

Re: RCCBs building!
I am trying not to bother them to much but did notice during feeding time that they have been busy.
They lined the bowl of the canary nest and are starting to build sides past the edges of the nest.
I also noticed they are both a bit darker, deeper blue.
